Kevin Cuozzo, a vibrant and deeply loved 17-year-old resident of the North Side of Syracuse, New York, passed away tragically on the night of Thursday, July 16, 2026.
Known affectionately as a boy who brought immense light, joy, and purpose into the lives of his family and friends, Kevin was a protective older brother and a loyal friend. His sudden, violent departure has sent shockwaves through the local community, leaving his loved ones utterly heartbroken and searching for words.
Tragedy at Washington Square Park
On Thursday evening, July 16, 2026, at approximately 8:27 PM, emergency personnel and Syracuse Police officers responded to a critical 911 dispatch reporting a stabbing at Washington Square Park.
Upon arrival at the park’s playground area, first responders located Kevin suffering from multiple severe wounds to his upper body. Paramedics from AMR provided immediate, life-saving medical treatment at the scene before rushing him to Upstate University Hospital. Despite the exhaustive efforts of the trauma team, Kevin was tragically pronounced dead shortly after arrival. The Syracuse Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division has launched a full investigation into the incident.

Kevin was a true child of the Syracuse North Side, growing up in a close-knit neighborhood where his presence was felt daily. From the very day he was born, his life brought a profound and transformative joy to his mother, who viewed him as her pride and joy.
